PowerVista RollCall Installation Options

PowerVista RollCall is designed to grow with you from the very start. Download the Trial Version to use the single-user Standard Edition to evaluate RollCall. The Trial Version is the same as the Standard Edition - it just stops saving data after 30 days.

The Standard Edition handles all available processing options, including multiple campus processing and specialized views for Instructors/Students. The Standard Edition uses the PowerVista database to manage data. It easily handles up to 500 students, associated classes and other information. The only difference between the Standard and Enterprise Editions is the type of database used. At just $1,199, the Standard Edition is an excellent starting point for growing your education business.

If your business has multiple administrators or you have more data than the Standard Edition can handle, the Enterprise Edition is right for you. The Enterprise Edition uses a commercial ODBC database to manage multi-user access to RollCall. RollCall installs Microsoft SQLServer Desktop Engine (SQLServer Express 2005) as part of the Enterprise Edition. Alternatively, you can use your existing installation of SQLServer. With the Enterprise Edition, any number of office administrators can use RollCall simultaneously. If you have current data in the Standard Edition, RollCall automatically transfers the information to the new database. Upgrade from the Standard Edition for $1,300, or start with the Enterprise Edition/Desktop Engine for Microsoft SQL Server* for $2,500.

RollCall Application Server is installed on the same server as the Enterprise Edition and it provides web access for students and instructors as well as remote access for traveling or external administrators.

  • The web access for Students and Instructors provides allows students to see their schedule, pre-register for classes, view grades and attendance and look at previous activity. Instructors can manage all their assigned classes from any computer connected to the Internet. They can record attendance, grades, setup exams and view their schedules. There's also a searchable Course Catalog and Prospective Student entry.

  • Many customers use existing internal servers, others use external third party co-location or managed service providers. Often, the third-party also provides website management services. RollCall Application Server allows you to connect remote geographic locations into your central server. Remote clients behave exactly the same as the direct connections used by a traditional network installation. The only difference is that there's an Internet connection (usually a broadband option, but dial-up works also). A small RollCall client is installed on each computer that will connect remotely. The user clicks a shortcut, and is connected to the central server.

Add RollCall Application Server to your Enterprise Edition installation for $1,500.
